বাংলা সাহিত্যের প্রথম মুসলিম ঔপন্যাসিক মীর মশাররফ হোসেনের জন্ম কুষ্টিয়ার লাহিনীপাড়া গ্রামে ১৩ নভেম্বর ১৮৪৭ খ্রিষ্টাব্দে। তিনি ঔপন্যাসিক, নাট্যকার ও প্রাবন্ধিক। তার রচিত ‘রত্নবতী (১৮৬৯) উপন্যাসটি বাংলা সাহিত্যে মুসলিম রচিত প্রথম উপন্যাস।
